“If I had to choose a single company to stand for all that is best and most characteristic about theater in New York, it might just be The Irish Repertory Theatre…One of the finest theater companies in America.”
Terry Teachout, The Wall Street Journal
We Bought It
Presented with the opportunity to purchase the theatre’s premises on West 22nd Street, we launched our capital campaign in 2006. With incredible support from the City of New York, New York State, and many generous private funders and individual donors, The Irish Rep closed on the property in 2007. Today, we are working to raise an additional $1 million to fully retire the mortgage and secure the theatre’s financial stability now and in the future.
We’re Renovating it
Architect Jim Garrison worked with founders Charlotte Moore and Ciaran O’Reilly to create a vision for the space that will support The Irish Rep’s mission and programs while enhancing amenities for our audience. Through the enormous generosity of the City of New York, as well as the contributions of New York State and private foundations, over $6 million has been raised to fund the renovation.
We’re Building for the Future
We have now launched the final phase of our Campaign with a remaining goal of $3 million (of a total goal of $14.5 million) to retire the mortgage, complete the renovation, and create a secure foundation of support for our return to our space in 2016.
We invite you to support the Irish Rep’s Capital Campaign.
