Farewell Performance & Groundbreaking

The last few days have been a whirlwind!

OCSR_5292n Thursday, September 4th we said goodbye to 22nd St in true Irish Rep style. Meet Me At The Square featured performances of songs from each Irish Rep musical, many performed by original cast members.

CSR_6154After the performance, our nearest and dearest headed upstairs to party into the wee hours.  Since the walls upstairs are coming down, everyone took a Sharpie and wrote farewell messages on the walls. We were thrilled to have so many of our actors come by later in the evening- it was quite the reunion!

Tom Finkelpearl, Commissioner of Cultural Affairs; Charlotte Moore, Irish Rep Artistic Director; Corey Johnson, City Councilmember / District 3; Ellen McCourt, Irish Rep Board Chair; Jimmy Van Bramer, City Councilmember/ District 26; Feniosky Peña-Mora , Commissioner of the New York City Department of Design and Construction; Jim Garrison, Architect & Ciaran O’Reilly Irish Rep Producing Director

The next morning we hosted members of the DDC and the city council as we broke ground on our renovation- with a sledge hammer through the Sea Marks set!

Renovations are officially underway and our Season in Union Square starts in just two weeks! We’re truly honored to be a part of such a wonderful community of artists and supporter!
